How to Remove Acrylic Nails at Home

With Acetone Nail Polish Remover

Acetone nail polish remover is the most effective way to remove acrylic nails at home. However, it is important to note that acetone can be harsh on your skin, so it is important to take precautions to protect your hands.

  1. Gather your materials. You will need acetone nail polish remover, cotton balls, aluminum foil, a bowl, and a nail file.
  2. File the top of your acrylic nails to remove the shine.
  3. Soak cotton balls in acetone nail polish remover and place them on your nails.
  4. Wrap your nails in aluminum foil and wait 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove the aluminum foil and cotton balls. The acrylic nails should be soft and easy to remove.
  6. Use a nail file to remove any remaining acrylic nails.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

With Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover

If you do not want to use acetone nail polish remover, you can try using a non-acetone nail polish remover. However, it is important to note that non-acetone nail polish removers are not as effective as acetone nail polish removers, so it may take longer to remove your acrylic nails.

  1. Gather your materials. You will need non-acetone nail polish remover, cotton balls, aluminum foil, a bowl, and a nail file.
  2. File the top of your acrylic nails to remove the shine.
  3. Soak cotton balls in non-acetone nail polish remover and place them on your nails.
  4. Wrap your nails in aluminum foil and wait 30-45 minutes.
  5. Remove the aluminum foil and cotton balls. The acrylic nails should be soft and easy to remove.
  6. Use a nail file to remove any remaining acrylic nails.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Tips

  • Do not pick or peel at your acrylic nails. This can damage your natural nails.
  • If your acrylic nails are very thick, you may need to soak them in acetone or non-acetone nail polish remover for longer than the recommended time.
